Black Knights Stymie South Carolina, Take 4-1 Win
|
The South Carolina Bombers got a sterling performance from pitcher Ange Schmit, but the Black Knights still prevailed, 4-1. Schmit was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Xiong Yang earned the win for Brooklyn. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing no earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Ti-an Dan earned the save for Brooklyn, his 3rd.
The Black Knights got a big at-bat from center fielder Kazuki Yamamoto. For the game, Yamamoto was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Brooklyn a 1-0 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Yamamoto said after the game.
The win brings the Black Knights to 17-13, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
