Argonauts Turn Back Reno, 4-2
|
Astoria Argonauts starter Rod Larcombe turned in a top-notch performance against the Reno Raiders at House of Pain. The result was a win for the Argonauts, 4-2. Carlos Alonzo was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 22 save opportunities. Astoria now sits at 66-69, while Reno falls to 69-66.
The Argonauts got a big at-bat from designated hitter Tony Kruger. For the game, Kruger went 1-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Astoria a 2-0 lead.
"I thought we played a nice game," Larcombe told the Astoria Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
