Cherry Helps Escape Run Win Streak to 4
|
The Scranton Escape knocked off the Indian Wells Aeropostales, 7-3, at Hell Stadium. Tom Cherry, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Scranton won. The catcher was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Guo-quiang Zhŕo earned the win for Scranton. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 9-12. Robert Cook was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 7 save opportunities.
Cherry had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the third inning, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Escape went on to win.
"It was a solid team effort," said Cherry after the game.
Scranton now has a 4-game win streak.
