The Fairfield Flash defeated the Coronado Phantoms, 8-2, at Phantoms Field today. Leading the charge for Fairfield was first baseman Afellan Kalamka. He went 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Jamie Newitt got the save, his 1st in 3 chances. Fairfield leads the Nick Adenhart League Tony La Russa Division by 19 games.
Kalamka had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a first pitch fastball from You-liang Rang, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Flash a 3-2 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Kalamka.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Kalamka said.
