Escape Prevail, 5-3, Over Peoria
|
Despite a great performance by Peoria left fielder Gerardo Zapata, the Scranton Escape defeated the Caterpillars by the score of 5-3 at Hell Stadium. Zapata was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Scranton reliever Joe Kenner was the winner. His record is now 7-3. Graeme Hughes took the loss. Rino Nitisastro earned his 2nd save in 2 chances.
The Escape got a big at-bat from designated hitter Júlio Segura. For the game, Segura went 2 for 3 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 8th hit of the season gave Scranton a 4-3 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Segura told reporters after the game.
Scranton is now 54-76, Peoria 65-67.
