The Silver Lake Baristas did just enough to sneak past the Minneapolis Freeze, 3-2, at Ashton Gate. Silver Lake pitcher Kagehisa Saikawa earned player of the game honors. Silver Lake reliever Jason Hammond picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Shinji Makino was saddled with the loss. Cyprien Bataille notched his 15th save in 17 chances.

Had Hilario Martínez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Martínez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Baristas.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Martínez. "And not try to do too much."

Silver Lake is now 61-68.
