Paczkis Score Late to Upend Freeze, 7-5
|
Minneapolis shortstop Bob Nichols was sensational. He was 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Canton beat the Freeze, 7-5. Nichols was named the player of the game despite the loss. Canton reliever Koshiro Ohayashi was the winner. His record is now 8-3. The losing pitcher was Rodolfo Reyes. P.J. Ross got the save, his 22nd in 28 chances.
The Paczkis got a big at-bat from designated hitter Enreecko Jocson. For the game, Jocson went 2-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Canton a 6-5 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Jocson said.
At 61-67, Canton is in 5th place in the Nick Adenhart League Bobby Cox Division.
