Joplin pitcher Nicholas Norman did his part in helping his team beat the Scranton Escape, 8-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. At 57-71, Joplin is in 5th place in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.

Takashi Tsuruta went 1-3 with a walk for Joplin. The 23-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Robert Cook. It was his 40th walk of the season.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Tsuruta said.
