Argonauts Walk Off with 9-8 Win
|
The rain at Golden Fleece Park did not keep Astoria and Antioch from finishing their game.
The Astoria Argonauts did just enough to secure a 9-8 victory over the Antioch Coal Miners at Golden Fleece Park. Nobody did more than center fielder Will Southern, who captured player of the game honors. With the win, Astoria has a record of 61-66. Antioch falls to 73-53.
Thomas Bernard was the walk-off hero for Astoria. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Argonauts catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place was rockin'," Southern said.
