Coal Miners Topple Argonauts as Swerdlow Shines
The Antioch Coal Miners defeated the Astoria Argonauts, 12-9, at Golden Fleece Park today. Leading the charge for Antioch was catcher Waylon Swerdlow. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Matsuyo Koda picked up the win, improving his season record to 11-7. He struck out 6 in 5.1 innings. The Coal Miners bumped their record to 73-52 with this latest triumph.

Nobuatsu Nakashima swatted a 3-run home run for Antioch in the top of the fourth. The third baseman went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 3.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Nakashima told reporters after the game.
