Banditos Lose, 9-2, at The War Dome
|
The Chicago Titans beat the Acapulco Banditos, 9-2, at The War Dome. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman Fred Nagy, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times. Cecilio Friuli got credit for the win, improving to 4-0. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. The Titans, now 56-66, have won 4 in a row.
Máximo Duarte had a big run-scoring double for the Titans in the bottom of the third inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from John Freemann and stroked the double to right. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Titans ahead, 2-0.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Chicago manager Tom Klein.
