The Minneapolis Freeze and Joplin Fireballs were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at The Ice Box.

The Joplin Fireballs beat the Minneapolis Freeze, 9-4, at The Ice Box. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Stewart Gee, who captured player of the game honors. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Dave Conboy, the winner, improved to 10-1. He held the Freeze to 3 earned runs on 3 hits over 8.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2.

Gee had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the fourth inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Fireballs went on to win.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Gee told the Joplin Daily.

The win puts the Fireballs at 53-66, while the Freeze drop to 63-57.
