Titans Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Racers
|
The Bowling Green Racers got a sterling performance from pitcher Luis Rodríguez, but the Titans still prevailed, 2-1. Rodríguez was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Chicago reliever Noritoshi Sato was credited with the win, to go to 4-6. Ah-cy Jian took the loss for Bowling Green. Paul Murat converted his 2nd save in 3 tries.
Had Aamir Hassani not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hassani hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Titans.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Hassani. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
Chicago bumps their record to 54-66 with the win.
