Multi-HR Day for Thorpe as Bombers Overpower Argonauts, 6-2
|
The Bronx Bombers topped the Astoria Argonauts, 6-2, with catcher Dave Thorpe playing a big role. Thorpe was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Bombers in the win. Vincenzo Rizzoli, the winner, improved to 2-1. He held the Argonauts to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2. The Bombers bumped their record to 69-50 with this latest triumph.
Thorpe had a key at-bat for Bronx early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and gave Bronx an early 2-0 lead.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Thorpe told the Bronx Citizen.
