Canadians left fielder Robert Mentzer put his stamp on his team's 4-3 win over the Canton Paczkis. Mentzer was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk for Vancouver in the contest. The winner was Peter McColgan, who threw 65 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. Alexis Coates converted his 9th save in 13 tries.
The Canadians got a big at-bat from designated hitter José Rodríguez. For the game, Rodríguez went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Vancouver a 4-1 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Mentzer. "And not try to do too much."
The Canadians bumped their record to 59-59 with this latest triumph.
