Big Day by Catterall Ignites Death Stars Win
|
The Detroit Death Stars handed the Joplin Fireballs a loss at The Firepit. The final score was 4-2. Morgan Catterall was named player of the game for Detroit. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 4. Dave Munier, who went 7.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 2 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 9-4. The Death Stars bumped their record to 61-52 with this latest triumph.
Detroit grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Catterall, who is tied for 2nd in the DKL in bases on balls with 95, hit a 2-run single. His 66th hit of the season put the Death Stars out in front, 3-1.
Catterall told a Detroit Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
