Racers Solve Phantoms, 6-5
|
The Bowling Green Racers topped the Coronado Phantoms, 6-5, with designated hitter Frank Nicholson playing a big role. Nicholson was 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 6 runs for the Racers in the win. Bowling Green reliever Yohachi Adachi got the win, raising his record to 3-0. John Curnew was tagged with the loss. Bowling Green has 3 straight wins, Coronado 3 straight losses.
Nicholson had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 splitter from John Curnew, he banged a bases-clearing double to left-center, giving the Racers a 6-4 lead. It was the 9th double of the year for Nicholson.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Nicholson said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
