Bombers Solve Death Stars, 5-4
|
Bronx and Detroit duked it out at The Death Star and the Bombers came out victorious.
The Bronx Bombers topped the Detroit Death Stars, 5-4, with center fielder Tomokazu Nakata playing a big role. Nakata was 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs for the Bombers in the win. Carl Cozens earned the win for Bronx. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 3-0.
Saul Montoya aided the Bronx cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Nakata said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Bombers bumped their record to 66-46 with this latest triumph.
