Havana third baseman Oscar Jones was a significant contributor in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Vancouver Pioneers. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Havana. The save went to Abdul Razzaq Kharoti, his 10th this season. The Pioneers fall to 13-16 and continue to sputter in the early going.

Havana used the timely hitting of Monte Irvin to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stogies on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Jones told the Havana Times.
