Blazers Lose to Rhinos, 5-4
|
Despite a fine performance by right fielder Sean Clark, the Bloomington Blazers suffered a 5-4 loss to the Rubber City Rhinos. Clark was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Tom Hanson, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 3-1. Shinzo Sasaki closed the game out for Rubber City, earning his 9th save.
The Rhinos got a big at-bat from second baseman Tekkan Tanaka. For the game, Tanaka was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Rubber City a 3-2 lead.
"We've got a great group of guys," Tanaka said, "and we're having fun right now."
Rubber City, now 18-10, has played well in the early going.
