Victory Pushes Racers Record to 61-50
|
The Bowling Green Racers beat the Coronado Phantoms, 7-3, at Top of the Hill. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Martin Whitney, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times. Luis Rodríguez was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. The Racers bumped their record to 61-50 with this latest triumph.
The Racers got a big at-bat from third baseman António Ayala. For the game, Ayala went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Bowling Green a 3-1 lead.
