Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at The Firepit.

The Joplin Fireballs beat the Billings Mustangs, 6-2, at The Firepit. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Takashi Tsuruta, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-5. Mickael Raymond was tagged with the loss.

Sachi Watanabe chipped in for Joplin with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the 11th. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 RBI.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Watanabe said.

Billings now has a 8-game losing streak.
