Xiu Hits 2 home runs in Beavers Win
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 32-year old first baseman Lai-hsiang Xiu, the Portland Beavers stopped the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 5-1. Yoshiaki Kojima, the winner, improved to 4-1. He held Cabo San Lucas to 1 earned run on 3 hits over 8 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. The Toreros fall to 9-17 and continue to sputter in the early going.
Portland grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Xiu, who is tied for 8th in the RCL in extra base hits with 12, hit a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season put the Beavers out in front, 5-1.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Xiu.
