Detroit rode a good effort from starter Dave Munier to beat the Albuquerque Cacti at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. The final score was 2-1. The winning pitcher was Munier, now 8-3. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Kent Whitten converted his 2nd save in 3 tries.

Raúl Fernández aided the Detroit cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the second. For the game, the third baseman was 1-3 with a double.
