Pioneers Drop Rhinos with Late Score
|
Vancouver rode a decent outing from starter Tony Velázquez to victory over the Rubber City Rhinos at The Rubber Grounds. The final score was 3-2. Vancouver reliever Alejandro García was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Vincent Vickers took the loss. With the win, Vancouver boosts its record to 13-15.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from catcher Shunsho Meshizuka. For the game, Meshizuka went 1 for 2 with a walk. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 11th hit of the season gave Vancouver a 3-2 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Vancouver manager Kojuro Ohayashi said.
