Canadians Get Past Reno for 5-4 Win
|
Reno pitcher Almas bin Su'ud gave the Canadians all they could handle, but in the end, Vancouver left House of Pain with a 5-4 win. bin Su'ud allowed 1 earned run on 8 hits over 8 innings. Manuel Martínez, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities. With the win, Vancouver goes to 47-48, while the Raiders fall to 51-46.
The Canadians got a big at-bat from left fielder Robert Mentzer. For the game, Mentzer was 2-5 with 2 singles. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 62nd hit of the season gave Vancouver a 5-4 lead.
"Glad to get this win," said Mentzer. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
