Baristas Come Up Short at Fairfield
|
Silver Lake catcher Andrew Spence had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-6, to Fairfield at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Spence went 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Fairfield reliever Benjamin Stevenson picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Joe Hutchins was saddled with the loss. Fairfield is now riding a 6-game win streak.
Juan Carlos Cruz drew 1 walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Fairfield. The 25-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Joe Hutchins. It was his 28th RBI of the season.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Fairfield manager Gary Altman.
