Flash Bang Out 9-3 Win Versus Chicago
|
The Fairfield Flash beat the Chicago Titans, 9-3, at The War Dome. Fairfield first baseman Jesús Valenzuela earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Joe Jackson earned the win for Fairfield. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 2-1. Paul Calamy notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
It could have been a different outcome for Fairfield, had it not been for Yoshitake Morita, the 27-year old shortstop . Morita contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put Fairfield up, 5-3.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Fairfield skipper Gary Altman.
Fairfield leads the Nick Adenhart League Tony La Russa Division by 14˝ games.
