Douggie Pitchford pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Silver Lake Baristas, despite Pitchford's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Bowling Green Racers at Ashton Gate. Sae-wan Yi was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 17 save opportunities. The Racers bumped their record to 46-42 with this latest triumph.
Frank Nicholson swatted a 2-run home run for Bowling Green in the top of the first. The first baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 2.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Silver Lake manager José Alonzo. "But we decided not to take it."
