Sandoval Leads Coal Miners to Win over Bombers
|
The Antioch Coal Miners defeated the Bronx Bombers, 7-5. Earning player of the game honors was designated hitter Víctor Sandoval, who went 3-3 with a home run and a double, while scoring 4 runs. Antioch reliever George Fortin Jr. was the winner. His record is now 7-4. Javier Franco took the loss. The Coal Miners bumped their record to 45-39 with this latest triumph.
Had Lee Brooks not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Brooks hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Coal Miners.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Sandoval said after the game.
