Wayne Dougherty helped his team muscle past the Portland Beavers, 7-6. In the game, the Cabo San Lucas center fielder went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Cabo San Lucas reliever Amirtharaj Nagaraja picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Olivier Martin absorbed the loss. The Beavers, now 10-16, continue their sluggish start.
The result might have been different for Cabo San Lucas, had it not been for Junzo Takenaka. The shortstop produced a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Toreros ahead, 7-6. For the game, Takenaka had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Dougherty said.
