Victory Pushes Freeze Record to 46-33
|
The Albuquerque Cacti got a sterling performance from first baseman Kijuro Masuda, but the Freeze still prevailed, 9-5. Masuda was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Andrew Johnson, credited with the win, is now 7-3. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 6.1 innings. Minneapolis is now 46-33, 4 games up in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
The Freeze got a big at-bat from catcher Reece Wager. For the game, Wager was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 17th home run of the season gave Minneapolis a 2-0 lead.
Wager told a Minneapolis News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
