Ayliffe Rips Calgary for 5 Hits
|
It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Virgil Ayliffe of the Chicago Titans. Ayliffe went on a tear at Foothills Stadium and cracked hit after hit off Calgary pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond, the 24-year-old catcher had a career 5-for-5 day and something he will long remember.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell them we lost," he joked in the BNN postgame interview.
Despite Ayliffe's personal accolades, the Calgary Kodiaks walked off the field with the 6-2 win.
Virgil Ayliffe singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far this year in 30 games Ayliffe is hitting .328 with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
