Mustangs Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Escape
|
The Mustangs had to overcome a fine effort from Scranton pitcher Guo-quiang Zhŕo to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Cobb Field. Zhŕo went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Luis Contreras, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 3-1. John Otten was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 18 save opportunities.
Manny Lugo aided the Billings cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the second. For the game, the shortstop was 2-3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Lugo said.
The Mustangs bumped their record to 40-40 with this latest triumph.
