Yamaguchi Goes Off, But Argonauts Win
|
The Astoria Argonauts overcame a good performance by Fairfield third baseman Nobutsugu Yamaguchi to knock off Fairfield, 7-5, at Golden Fleece Park. Yamaguchi hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Carlos Alonzo was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 12 save opportunities. The Argonauts improved to 35-44.
The Argonauts got a big at-bat from right fielder Turner Coyle. For the game, Coyle was 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Astoria a 4-2 lead.
Coyle called the triumph "a good team win."
