Coal Miners Prevail, 7-5, Over Canton
|
Antioch first baseman Scott McFarland made his presence felt in the 7-5 Coal Miners triumph over the Canton Paczkis. McFarland was 2 for 3 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Adam Pitkeathy got credit for the win, improving to 4-8. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 6 innings. George Fortin Jr., credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.
Antioch relied on the hitting of Alex Bahena to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Coal Miners on top, 3-0. For the game, Bahena had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We played hard and won," said McFarland. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The Coal Miners bumped their record to 41-37 with this latest triumph.
