Fireballs Squelch Titans Offense in Shutout Win
|
Joplin right-hander Bob Brown pitched his team to a shutout win, 3-0, over the Chicago Titans. Sergio Martínez converted his 4th save in 5 tries. Today's win puts Joplin at 34-42, while Chicago falls to 35-43.
The Fireballs got a big at-bat from shortstop Sachi Watanabe. For the game, Watanabe was 1-3 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Joplin a 2-0 lead.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Watanabe said.
