Raiders Prevail, 5-4, Over Acapulco
|
The Reno Raiders grabbed a 5-4 win over the Acapulco Banditos at Underdogs Ballpark. Reno right fielder Ken Donovan went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times to earn player of the game honors. Reno reliever Anandam Ramanathan picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Denny Goodwin absorbed the loss. At 39-37, the Raiders find themselves in third place in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
Had Dong Kan not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Kan hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Raiders.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Reno manager Chris Brading.
