The Columbus Aces topped the Portland Beavers, 8-5, with youngster Joe Taylor playing a key role. Taylor went 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Aces in the win. Columbus reliever Amayas Nyamu was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Thomas Kearton. The save was Chris Riddle's, his 2nd.

Columbus third baseman Yoshihiro Takahashi contributed to the cause with a single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Takahashi went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Taylor told the Columbus Chronicle.

The Aces raised their record to 15-8.
