Canadians Fall to .500 After Loss to Baristas
|
The Silver Lake Baristas got a strong performance from pitcher Kagehisa Saikawa, who stymied the Vancouver offense en route to a 4-1 win at Ashton Gate. Saikawa picked up the win for Silver Lake, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 4-4. Bhanuratha Vaithu converted his 9th save in 10 tries.
The Baristas got a big at-bat from catcher Andrew Spence. For the game, Spence was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Silver Lake a 3-1 lead.
"I really like what we did out there today," Saikawa said after the game.
The win boosts the Baristas to 33-39. The loss puts the Canadians at 38-38.
