Peoria withstood an impressive performance by Pasadena shortstop Tin-jong Yi to defeat the Bumblebees, 15-9, at The Hole. Yi was 2-4 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Peoria reliever Matt Howard picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jerry Kennedy shouldered the loss. The 4th-place Caterpillars have won 4 consecutive games.

Peoria used the timely hitting of Motoyuki Taniguchi to capture the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Caterpillars on top, 8-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Taniguchi, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
