Flash Topple Baristas with Late Rally
|
The Flash had to overcome a fine performance from Silver Lake pitcher Kagehisa Saikawa to grab a 5-2 win at Ashton Gate. Saikawa allowed 4 earned runs over 7.2 innings. Fairfield reliever Royce Leveque picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kagehisa Saikawa absorbed the loss. Gabriel Bernard, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Had Ernie Horswill not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Horswill hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Flash.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Horswill said.
The Flash have an impressive 44-20 record.
