Big Day for Measures as Banditos Down Racers, 8-5
|
Shane Measures made an impact in the 8-5 Acapulco win over Bowling Green. Measures, who is tied for 2nd in the NAL with a .602 slugging percentage, was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Yefim Merkushin picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-2. Masamichi Takeda was tagged with the loss. Curtis Cahill was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 16 save opportunities.
The Banditos got a big at-bat from third baseman Kai Jolliffe. For the game, Jolliffe went 1-4 with a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 45th hit of the season gave Acapulco a 4-3 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Measures said.
The Banditos saw their win-loss record go to 31-34. At the same time, the Racers fell to 38-30.
