Phantoms Take Nail-Biter Over Aeropostales
|
Fans who came to Phantoms Field watched the Coronado Phantoms and the Indian Wells Aeropostales fight to the finish.
The Coronado Phantoms defeated the Indian Wells Aeropostales, 9-8. Earning player of the game honors was left fielder Leonard Wright, who was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Coronado is now 23-41, Indian Wells 37-30.
The Phantoms got a big at-bat from shortstop Isao Tanaka. For the game, Tanaka went 1 for 5 with a double. In the bottom of the tenth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 13th double of the season gave Coronado a 9-8 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Wright said.
