The Antioch Coal Miners stopped the Astoria Argonauts, 9-5, at The Coal Mine. The Coal Miners got a big game from Roger Schäfer, who hit 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Antioch reliever Carlos Torres picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Miguel Padilla was saddled with the loss. This win makes it 5 in a row for Antioch.
Schäfer had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Rhys Ballard, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Coal Miners a 8-5 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Schäfer.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Schäfer.
