Kodiaks Lose, 9-6, at The Coal Mine
|
The Antioch Coal Miners defeated the Calgary Kodiaks, 9-6, at The Coal Mine. Antioch shortstop Alex Bahena was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Nicolas Joubert converted his 11th save in 13 tries. The Coal Miners saw their win-loss record go to 29-31. At the same time, the Kodiaks fell to 29-30.
The Coal Miners got a big at-bat from catcher Andy Grimley. For the game, Grimley was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 35th hit of the season gave Antioch a 7-5 lead.
Coal Miners manager Hervé Barthélémy wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
