Late Rally by Death Stars Secures Win
|
The Joplin Fireballs got a superb performance from pitcher Nicholas Norman. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Detroit. The Death Stars won the game, 4-2. In spite of the loss, Norman was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. Kyung-hwan Ho converted his 4th save in 5 tries. The Death Stars bumped their record to 31-29 with this latest triumph.
Tony Martinez hit a run-scoring triple off Tomoyuki Kiyomizu in the top of the ninth, which put the Death Stars in front, 3-2. Martinez had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Martinez.
