The Kodiaks had to overcome a fine effort from Antioch pitcher Matsuyo Koda to grab a narrow 5-3 win at The Coal Mine. Koda went 7 innings and allowed no earned runs. Calgary reliever Tim Stady was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Manuel Sánchez took the loss for Antioch. Juan Ramírez converted his 9th save in 11 tries.

Had Jesús Ramos not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Ramos hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Kodiaks.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Ramos.

The Kodiaks bumped their record to 29-29 with this latest triumph.
