Dave Sherrill pitched a gem to lead Minneapolis to a 2-1 victory over the Joplin Fireballs. Pedro García earned the save, his 4th. Minneapolis leads the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division by 4 games.
The Freeze got a big at-bat from second baseman Tommy Moore. For the game, Moore went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season gave Minneapolis a 2-1 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Sherrill said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
