Multi-HR Game for Verity in 8-6 Win
|
The South Carolina Bombers bested the Bloomington Blazers by a score of 8-6, with third baseman Ron Verity getting the main credit. On the day, Verity went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Bombers. Sotatsu Hayagawa, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 1-0. Christian Wallace recorded the save for South Carolina, his 1st of the season.
Jorge Rivera, who is rated as the 19th best prospect by BNN, aided the South Carolina cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the center fielder went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Bombers manager Randy Huggett. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
The Bombers, now 1-2, have not found much traction so far in 2033.
